Dentists Serving Plano

Plano Has More Dental Offices Than You Can Count, but Finding One Worth Trusting Is Another Story

If you work at Toyota, JPMorgan, or one of the dozens of corporate campuses along the Legacy corridor, you know the drill: Plano runs on efficiency, credentials, and accountability. You don’t settle for average in your career, and if you’ve landed at a dental chain off Preston or Coit that can’t remember your name, sends you to a specialist for everything, or handed you a $4,000 treatment plan on your first visit, you already know you shouldn’t settle for average dental care either.

Renew Family Dentistry is located on Warren Pkwy in Frisco, just 12 to 18 minutes from Legacy West, West Plano, and the Willow Bend corridor. We’re independently owned and operated by Dr. Christopher Probst and Dr. Jiaying Ren, a husband-and-wife team who show up every day and see every patient themselves.

The Problem with Corporate Dentistry in Plano

Plano is one of the most dentist-dense suburbs in North Texas, and a significant portion of those offices are owned not by dentists, but by private equity. Dental Service Organizations (DSOs) have flooded the Legacy West and Preston Road corridors with branded storefronts staffed by rotating associates who are evaluated on their production numbers, not your long-term oral health.

PBS Frontline’s investigation into corporate dental chains documented a pattern Plano patients have been experiencing for years: aggressive treatment plans on the first visit, unnecessary “deep cleanings” billed as periodontal maintenance, and crowns placed on teeth that didn’t need them.

We’re not a chain. Dr. Probst and Dr. Ren built this practice from the ground up, own it outright, and have no production quotas to meet. When they recommend treatment, it’s because the tooth needs it, not because our quarterly numbers are down.

What Plano Patients Actually Come to Us For

The Plano patients we see most often fall into a few distinct groups. Corporate professionals in their 30s and 40s who’ve been neglecting their dental health because their schedule won’t allow three-appointment crown procedures, and who are relieved to learn we do same-day CEREC crowns. Empty nesters in Willow Bend or Kings Ridge who are finally ready to invest in the cosmetic work they’ve been putting off for twenty years. And patients in their 50s and 60s from the Russell Creek and Spring Creek areas who need implants and were told they’d have to go to three different offices to get them.

We handle all of it in-house, from Implant placement to porcelain veneers, and even IV sedation for patients with significant anxiety. And with preventive care for the whole family, you won’t need to visit multiple practices for your family.

Services for Plano Patients

Dental Implants (Placed and Restored In-House)

Most general dentists in Plano refer implant placement to an oral surgeon or periodontist. That means two separate offices, two separate billing departments, and a process that can stretch across months. At Renew Family Dentistry, Dr. Probst and Dr. Ren place and restore dental implants under one roof and offer single-tooth implants, implant-supported bridges, sinus lifts, and All-on-4 full-arch restorations.

Same-Day CEREC Crowns

If you’ve ever sat through two appointments and three weeks of a temporary crown just to get a permanent one placed, you know how unnecessary that process feels. Our CEREC technology designs, mills, and seats a permanent ceramic crown in a single appointment, typically under two hours. No need for temporary restorations or multiple trips to the office.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Porcelain veneers, Invisalign with iTero digital scanning, professional whitening, dental bonding, and Botox for TMJ and facial aesthetics are all offered at our dental office. If your smile has been on the back burner while everything else in your life took priority, we’re the practice where that conversation actually goes somewhere.

Sedation Dentistry

Nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation, and IV sedation are available from our dentists. For Plano patients who’ve been avoiding the dentist because of anxiety, whether from a bad experience at a previous office or simply a lifelong aversion, sedation lets you get years of deferred care handled comfortably and at your own pace.

Emergency Dental Care

Cracked tooth at 8 am before a 9 am meeting? Don’t panic! We hold same-day slots for dental emergencies and see both established patients and new patients in urgent situations.

Frequently Asked Questions from Plano Patients

My last dentist found $5,000 worth of work I supposedly needed on my very first visit. Should I trust that?

Skepticism is warranted. Aggressive treatment plans presented on the first visit, especially at corporate chain practices, are one of the most documented patterns in DSO dentistry. It doesn’t mean you don’t have dental needs, but it does mean you should get a second opinion before authorizing anything major. We welcome patients who come to us specifically for that second look. We’ll give you an honest, independent assessment of what you actually need and what can wait, and we’ll show you the X-rays and explain our reasoning.

I have Delta Dental/Cigna/MetLife. Do you take it?

We accept most major PPO dental insurance plans, including Delta Dental, Cigna, Aetna, MetLife, and United Concordia. We recommend calling our office with your specific plan details before your first visit so we can verify your benefits, explain what’s covered, and make sure there are no surprises at checkout. For treatment beyond what insurance covers, we offer flexible financing options.

I want veneers, but I’ve also been told I need a couple of crowns. Can you sequence all of this in one place?

Yes, and sequencing it correctly matters a lot. Crowns and restorative work should generally come before veneers so the cosmetic result is built on a stable foundation. We’ll map out a full treatment plan that handles the functional work first, protects your investment in cosmetics, and gives you a clear timeline and cost picture before anything starts. Plano patients with complex cases often tell us this kind of organized, staged planning is exactly what they couldn’t get at their previous practice.
